The screening of this film is the inauguration of a series of six meetings proposed by the Cultural Association Matavitatau and the diocese of Orvieto-Todi, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Todi, Association of the Sons and Friends of Boa Vista, Association Omnes beyond Borders, and Umbria and Culture. The theme of the meetings is “Living Intensely in the Moment, Putting Gratitude into Action.”
The film was an outgrowth of a show created for the Meeting of Friendship at Rimini 2021. The theme of the film is the approach of three different personalities towards the most important questions of our time, attempting to respond using their own personal experiences. These include Charles Taylor, emeritus professor of philosophy at McGill University in Montreal; Julián Carrón, professor of Theology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan and president of the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation from 2005-2021; Rowan Williams, emeritus professor of Contemporary Christian Thought at the University of Cambridge and Archbishop of Canterbury from 2002-2012.
Their statements intertwine with the questions, challenges, and various realities we are trying to face, along with a patchwork of songs, texts, interviews, video clips, poetry, artwork, and photographs of daily life. The film is an uncensored work that allows men and women to share their reality freely. Even the least comfortable questions become a critical part of our shared human adventure. The challenge of living in our uncertain times, gives us an unparalleled opportunity to rediscover the true nature of the ego, and its thirst for truth, justice, and goodness.
We live in complicated times where things that seemed obvious are now being challenged and debated. When looking at a large portion of our planet, it is hard not to share Voltaire’s definition of “war” in his Dictionary of Philosophy dated 1764: “Famine, plague, and war are the three most famous ingredients of this wretched world.”

Is it possible to live without anxiety and fear in this time of ours, in this “fluid” period which looks at every certainty with suspicion?
